The God of 2020 has been the same throughout the ages. He’s been consistently good. Fixed on being faithful, regardless of our present feelings, even when we (His children, His Body) are faithless. By His grace, His goodness is not contingent on our faith.
in light of that truth…
Can you name one thing that happened in 2020 that changed His nature? Can you name one thing that happened in 2020 that nullified the power of the Cross?
Remember that He is the Great I am not the “Great I was.” Jesus remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Forever the same.
In the midst of a pandemic. He’s the same. In the midst of an election. He’s the same. In the midst of social unrest. He’s the same. In the midst of revival. He’s the same. In the midst of a new year. He’s the same.
Make no mistake, I do not believe God hid his face from us in 2020, and if the thought of God being faithful triggers your doubt, I encourage you to read on….
Do you know that we were never promised to not have any trials in life ? But we were promised that when trials DO come, we have a buffer to protect us, and we were given tools to combat or come back with.
In every battle, take faith as your wrap-around shield, for it is able to extinguish the blazing arrows coming at you from the Evil One! Ephesians 6:16 TPT
the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one. Ephesians 6:16 ESV
Has anyone told you that you have been equipped ? Do you feel equipped ? Do you want to be equipped ? Here’s how….
For a one time payment of….. (I’m kidding) 🙃
Do you trust God ? Do you believe Him to be good ? Do you believe in the future He has for you ? How do I know He has a future for you? Are you a child of God? Good, cause He is a good Dad, and there are no orphans at His table. Come sit at the table and rest. Rest in the promises. He’s a promise keeper. He’s only lets you down as much as you believe He has.
How do you trust God? …Put your faith IN Him. In Him. IN. Him. Your faith can no longer be in your circumstances. Your faith can no longer be in people. Your faith can no longer be in your church. Your leaders. Your news feed. Your stimulus package. The “end all be all” of your faith has got to be IN Jesus Christ, also known as Messiah, or Yeshua (Savior).
If your faith has been in anything less than Christ “the Anointed One” I can guarantee you are headed into a place of disappointment. Secondly, if you are in a place where you feel like the Lord has “let you down” your faith may of not been in Him to begin with. May be tough to chew but, I want to stop you from thinking for even one second that the Lord your God, Creator of the Heavens and Earth would deny himself to be who He says He is just to let little ole’ you down…
He won’t. He hasn’t, and He never will.
So it is impossible for God to lie for we know that His promise and His vow will never change! And now we have run into His heart to hide ourselves in His faithfulness. This is where we find His strength and comfort, for He empowers us to seize what has already been established ahead of time—an unshakeable hope! Hebrews 6:18 TPT
So what happened to 2020 ? I think we can all agree it may of been a little sticky. To maintain their peace, we believers had to navigate through noise, steward our focus, and anchor our hope. Even still the ride may of been a little bumpy, some bumpier than others…one of the key things that sustained me throughout the year was staying locked in (pardon the pun ) on Jesus. I stayed lock in on the only thing that was certain throughout the uncertainties of this year.
Repeat after me….Jesus is still on the throne.
Enthroned above all, enthroned above my frustrations, my self ambitions, enthroned above my bank account balance, enthroned above my health and the health of my loved ones, enthroned above my race, political preference, and religious liberties. Jesus was so highly exalted, and by grace, He brought me up with him by invitation, to see things as He sees through the lens of the Cross:
Then the voice that had spoken to me at first and that sounded like a trumpet said, “Come up here! I will show you what must happen next” Revelation 4:1 CEV
Do we wanna go from glory to glory? Or bummer to bummer? The invitation is extended to you. “Come up here” Allow Him to take you up higher, above your trials, above your fears, about your anxieties. Trust comes from taking the invitation to know Him. The more you spend time with someone, the more you can see their qualities. Spend time with Jesus long enough and you’ll see one of His main qualities is His faithfulness.
The Merriam- Webster definition of faithful is this : faithful is used of someone who has a firm and constant devotion to something to which he or she is united by or as if by a promise or pledge. See Definition
Remember in Hebrews 6:18 it said that “it is impossible for God to lie for we know that His promise and vow will never change”. If we are feeling let down or losing faith in God’s ability to change a situation… Have we allowed something to creep into our theology to make us believe that He has failed us ? Have we ourselves lost faith in the Faithful one ?
We’ve all been there, with our hope deferred and dignity wounded. But God is the restorer of all things. I am so grateful for His limitless goodness that He displays in multiple facets. Even in the midst of things appearing seemingly dim, in the midst of disappointments, even then I stand on this incredible truth:
I would have despaired had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Psalm 27:13 AMP
God came thru in many ways this year that I didn’t expect, or anticipated. Sometimes He just comes thru like that. God is not limited to our expectations, He is allowed to answer prayers how He wants to, because He is Sovereign. I haven’t always liked “the feeling” that I’m not in the driver seat but I have been learning to submit to His Sovereignty, I have found that it is so much better than my plans.
The rest of the Psalms 27 after verse 13 reads :
Wait for and confidently expect the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for and confidently expect the Lord. Psalm 27:14 AMP
My encouragement to you is this: Go back into 2020, write down and testify to all the areas in your life that God has come thru for you. Maybe there are still some prayers that are you waiting for to be answered, treasure the areas of breakthrough that you do have now as your sustainable hope that He is still working. The faithful God of 2020 will meet you in 2021. His plan for you is perfect, remember He is faithful to complete the good work that He began in you. Let courage in to your heart, allow hope to take root in place of doubt, and remember who your faith is in, He is still undefeated. You have nothing to lose by putting all your faith in Him, instead in Christ you have great gain!
So I want to encourage you to have hope.
Who knows, maybe God has richly blessed you this year and you share my sentiments of a faithful God. Then I encourage you to “give away Hope”
Now may God, the inspiration and fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in him. And may the power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with his super-abundance until you radiate with hope! Romans 15:13 TPT
The overflow, is for the benefit of others, not for us to hoard. Because He is the God of superabundance– we don’t have to worry about our next fill, because He will always fill, always replenish, always restore. If you have been blessed financially this year, give, tithe, sow. If you have had an amazing year with the Lord, share the revelation of His goodness with someone. If you have community, go be community to someone who needs it. A sure fire way of showing God’s faithfulness to someone is by faithfully sharing the “Christ in you” with someone.
Happy New Year, Jesus is Faithful. Love You 🖤
